TIME TO RETREAT

This is a time for you! To retrieve yourself and take you out of your day to day life. To recharge, to reflect, to set clear goals and to be taken care of!

YOGA & HIKING

We begin each day with a morning flow. We end each evening with Yin, meditation, or Nidra practise.

Hiking through stunning landscapes, breathtaking vistas, and authentic and picturesque villages in the Douro Valley with some intentional tasks (I will reveal on the day of hiking).

NATURE

We stay a few meters from the Douro River's banks. And we spend the entire day outside, hiking and picnicking on top of the Douro hills.  While avoiding overcrowded tourist areas, we will discover breathtaking views of the Douro River and vineyards!

Depending on the weather, morning yoga will be held by the river.

SLEEP & EAT

We stay in a lovely a century-old house, just a few meters from the banks of the Douro River, in the picturesque old town. Each room has its own historical features and a private bathroom, ensuring your comfort

The staff will prepare vegetarian meals for us, all of which will be organic and grown in the surrounding area.

What to expect in the retreat?

Think of the activities in our Yoga and Hiking retreat as chapters in a compelling story. Each yoga pose, every step on the hiking trail, and the serene moments of reflection contribute to a narrative of inner exploration and personal growth. This retreat is like a beautifully crafted storybook of your journey into 2024.

In the morning we will practice more dynamic flow and breath work to prepare ourselves for the day.

In the evening, we will practice restorative yoga, slowing down and cooling off after a day of hiking. Our yoga practice will include asanas, pranayama and meditation.

It's a small retreat; therefore, the yoga teacher will be able to personalize the yoga class according to your objectives and the areas you want to improve.

Our retreat journey commences on the first day as we gather in Porto. It's a chance for all of us to meet, connect, and share in the anticipation of the adventure ahead. From Porto, we'll embark on a scenic train journey to the beautiful Douro Valley. During this initial day, we'll kickstart our retreat with yoga and set our intentions for the transformative journey that lies ahead. It's a day of connection, reflection, and the beginning of a meaningful experience.

On day 2, our hiking adventure begins and ends at Régua's main bridge. We'll cross the river via a charming pedestrian bridge and continue along the path to Quinta da Pacheca, located about 5 kilometers from Régua. From there, we'll journey to the equally idyllic Quinta Vale Abrao or Six Senses Douro Valley. Our route takes us along the river path, following the 'PR2 Trilho Vinho do Porto,' and then up a beautiful and steep path to the church of Samodaes, where we'll savor breathtaking views of the Douro's slopes and vineyards. In Samodaes, we'll have a picnic with magnificent views to nourish our souls.

On day 3, we will start our goal setting workshop session with meditation and vision board making, gaining valuable tools and strategies. After few days of yoga and time in nature people often have a clearer mind and are more motivated to think about their aspirations and intentions for the coming year.

On day 4, we will have our final yoga class, returning home with clarity and renewed energy.

Throughout the retreat, delicious, balanced, vegetarian, and locally sourced meals and non-alcoholic beverages will be served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu includes a variety of multicultural dishes, including Mexican, Spanish, and Asian cuisine, as well as an infusion of Portuguese desserts.

Goal Setting for a Purposeful Life Workshop Overview

Duration: 4 Hours

WHAT TO EXPECT:

This is not a New Year’s resolution workshop or just another sitting and talking about the dreams activity that take you nowhere!

This workshop is designed to help participants gain clarity on their goals, align them with their values, and create a vision for a purposeful life. Through meditation, self-reflection, a goal-setting, and the creation of vision boards, participants will leave with a clear plan for the year ahead, driven by intrinsic motivation and a sense of purpose.

Introduction

• Welcome and ice-breaking activities.

• Brief overview of the workshop’s objectives, emphasizing the importance of intrinsic motivation and purpose-driven goal setting.

Meditation and Mindfulness

• Guided meditation session to help participants connect with their inner motivations.

• Discuss the role of mindfulness and self-reflection in understanding one’s true sources of motivation.

Self-Reflection

• Participants will be provided with a goal-setting questionnaire.

• They’ll have time to reflect on their current life, values, and long-term aspirations, considering the idea of living in alignment with their purpose.

Goal Setting

• Facilitator will guide participants in setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals.

• Understanding the importance of setting goals that align with their personal values, beliefs, and intrinsic motivation.

Vision Board Creation

• Participants will be provided with art supplies for creating vision boards.

• The vision boards will represent participants’ goals, aspirations, and their vision for a purposeful life, making a positive impact on others.

Sharing and Reflection

• Facilitator will guide discussions on the shared visions and encourage participants to find the intrinsic motivation and purpose behind their goals.

Goal Setting Action Plan

• Facilitator will help participants create a concrete action plan for the next steps to work towards their goals.

• Discuss the importance of continuous growth and learning as a source of intrinsic motivation.

Closing and Gratitude

• A closing meditation to express gratitude and reaffirm the goals set during the workshop.

• Participants will leave with a clear plan and a vision board, driven by intrinsic motivation and a sense of purpose.

The Goal setting Yoga and Hiking Retreat located in the beautiful Douro Valley region, Peso da Regua in the Original Douro hotel.

Choose to share a twin room with a partner or friend. There are also single occupancy rooms.

All rooms have ensuite bathrooms. There are plenty of space to relax in the lounge or in the terrace.

GETTING HERE

The hotel is only 3 min. from Régua train station, therefore you don’t need a car.

Our recommendation is to get to Porto, get the train from Campanha or São Bento train station and travel to Peso da Régua (train ticket up to 10 eur).

Meet your yoga teacher

Hi, I'm Rai, a yoga teacher. I prefer not to talk extensively about myself, but if you've booked my retreat in January or are considering it, you should know what to expect!

In 2021, I dedicated a year to studying under one of Portugal’s finest instructors, completing a Yoga Alliance Certified 200-hour program in Ericeira, along with other significant courses related to yoga anatomy and the energetic body. I teach yoga classes in Europe, offering both online and in-person classes. My primary focus is on Vinyasa and Yin yoga, with an emphasis on body opening to create space for energy flow and to release stagnant energy and emotional baggage that we don’t want to carry

Before my journey into yoga, I felt lost both mentally and physically, struggling to find a motivating self-care routine. However, the discovery of breath work, meditation, yoga asanas, and philosophical aspects transformed my life. These practices not only reignited my self-motivation but also inspired me to become a yoga teacher, now my livelihood.

Prior to finding my passion for teaching, I navigated various career paths, leading to anxiety and depression. I couldn't identify what truly ignited my spirit or my purpose. Yoga played a significant role in helping me. Through tools like meditation, I reconnected with my inner self and reconciled with long-suppressed dreams. I recognized how I had strayed from my authentic aspirations by following others' paths, not my own.

Today, my purpose and mission are crystal clear. I serve as a bridge, connecting beautiful souls and fostering exceptional experiences in my classes and retreats. I empower individuals facing challenges to discover ease, purpose, and joy in life through yoga techniques rooted in science.

Yoga classes with Rai are great. She is a fantastic teacher and the place in Douro is lovely. I always leave feeling balanced, like I’ve had a great workout, and calm! She always gives everything to the class which makes it special.
If you are a yoga begginner, class with Rai will be a great start - you can see easier and more advanced versions of each pose. Highly reccommend to anyone that wants to center themselves away from the busy city.
